a fall upside down cake š
that's easier than the original...
happy wednesday divas! how has everyoneās week been? as I mentioned in my Sunday newsletter, Iāve been slowly getting back into my routine here in LA, and this week I am continuing on that ~journey~. essentially this consists of maintaining my regular exercise schedule, making a lot of home cooked meals, getting tons of video editing done and not going out/drinking/spending money during the week (well until tomorrowā¦Thursdays are the beginning of the weekend, I donāt make the rules).
for dinners this week, I made a new squash orzo recipe (coming soon and itās 10/10) and my red curry almond butter noodles. DAMN I forgot how much they hit! I shared a video of the process here and I will share the full recipe in my upcoming Sunday newsletter!
for today, Iām back with a fall version of my brown butter cornmeal upside down cake. and before you think, āEmma, you already told us about the plum upside down cakeā, THINK AGAIN! Iāve created a new version thatās even easier than the original because it doesnāt involve making the caramel sauce, and it has the addition of fall spices that make it *perfect* for cozy, cold-weather season. you could absolutely use any seasonal fruit here, too ā my friend Sara made one with figs that looks to die for. and perhaps I sense an apple upside down cake in our futureā¦? the possibilities are endless! and I will keep riffing because I love this cake so much and you all seem to love it too!!!
before we get to the recipeā¦letās do:
WEDNESDAY WORDS
(and itās actually on a Wednesday this week. I told you Iām getting back into routine!!!)
how to have an analog fall ā I loooove this concept. you guys know Iāve been talking a LOT about lowering screen time and spending more time out in the real world, and this article further inspired me for the fall! I feel like itās the ideal season for activities because, if youāre lucky, the weather is not too hot and not too cold, the air is crisp, and the post-summer energy is high. hereās my analog fall list (and you should make one too!)
