my favourite summer recipes ☀️
and I am *once again* asking you to host a dinner party
HEY! hope you are all having a fantastic weekend. it’s my last day in Toronto and it always feels quite bittersweet being back here. the longer I live away from home, the easier it becomes to return home without wanting to live here, if that makes sense. when I first moved to LA, I would honestly get a little sad when I came back to Toronto — the reminder that my family and friends are here was really hard, and I would sometimes question my decision to leave. but the more time that passes, the more I miss LA when I’m gone and feel like Toronto is not where I’m meant to be right now (even though it’s my home and I love it). it’s a really interesting dichotomy, and I guess it’s that feeling that people describe where your heart is in two places. like I said, very bittersweet.
all this to say, I’ve had a jam-packed trip here and it’s been so wonderful to see many of my loved ones. that’s the other thing about living away from home — coming back can feel a little chaotic with trying to see everyone, working, going to events, etc. I had a few birthdays to celebrate here and a lot of work meetings, so it’s been busy but great. I’m heading back to LA tomorrow and I can’t wait to sleep in my own bed, go to my favourite coffee shops, hike, go to the farmer’s market and see all my friends there.
as the season finally changes and the weather really starts warming up, I wanted to share a few of my favourite summer recipes. these are the ones that I come back to consistently and look forward to making all summer long. summer is just the best time for fresh seasonal produce and it always re-inspires me to cook delicious, vibrant meals, so I hope this give you some inspiration as well. you all know I’m in my dinner party era, so this is also (once again) your reminder to host a summer dinner party, where you can certainly use a few of these recipes bring together your friends over a wonderful backyard/cottage/poolside meal. happy summer!
